About the Artist

Sydney-based emerging artist, Emma Cocks has been experimenting and honing her skills in art for several years. She began her career in art with oil painting in 2017 and, in 2022, began to explore ceramics and hot glass through her studies at the University of Sydney. 

 

Inspired by romanticism and surrealism, her works often explore ideas of self-expression and femininity in the post-modern world. Her works portray human emotions through physical forms like bruising and scarring, and hand and body language. Aesthetically, her works often incorporate unnatural or abstract elements into a basis of realism, and use varying levels of colour and vibrancy to simulate the varying levels of intensity and emotion within the story she tells.
